Maintenance and Repairs

Need something fixed that’s a bit techie? Well, instead of chucking it, give us a go at fixing it. Sometimes, it doesn’t take much to get something working, and I’ll soon let you know if we are wasting our time.

Lightening strikes

Once a client was told by a shop that their computer was dead and that all their photos were gone. To make matters worse, they had no backup. I told them to leave their computer with me and I had a look. After testing every component, I discovered it was simply a dead power supply, and EVERYTHING else in the machine was fine. Quite frankly, I was disgusted that the shop didn’t at least try the hard drive in another machine to retrieve my mate’s photos! Anyway, my mate had his machine going again with a simple power supply replacement AND got all his photos. Needless to say, we also set him up with a backup system!

Bit dusty mate…

Recently, a client had a computer that crashed at certain points in a game. On further testing, it was running very hot. On inspection, it was rather dusty. We got into it and deep-cleaned their graphics card and case. We took the temperatures down from 110 degrees on their graphics card to ~75. Not only does this mean their investment will last a lot longer, but they will enjoy their gaming without crashes!
